Picture Perfect: Images of Marsaxlokk, Malta

January 11, 2012 Den Den 15 Comments

This post is part of a new series entitled ‘Picture Perfect’, published because of my wish to showcase some beautiful travel shots from around the world which didn’t quite make it into regular blog posts or which tell a story on their own and need few words, if any, to describe them.

Being back in cloudy, dreary Zurich, it warms my heart to look at these images of Marsaxlokk, Malta, which I took a week ago. The blue sky decorated with fluffy white clouds, the bright boats and the splashes of colour are just beautiful. What a wonderful backdrop for New Year’s day.

It’s always great to see foreigners promoting our beautiful island. Did you know that Malta was in fact voted as having the ‘Best Climate on Earth’? No wonder everyone wishes to live there!.

Hi Chloe. I am not a foreigner. I’m just a Maltese living abroad. :)

Enjoy! My home country is a little bit misunderstood by travellers…you just have to dig a bit deeper and you’ll discover it’s full of beautiful things

Wow! These are great photos. I like that the little blue boat seems like it can’t wait to get going somewhere – anywhere!

  8. Oh the colors in these photos is amazing! I enjoyed everyone of them but the picture with the bay and boats really makes me wish I was in Malta.

I can see how these photos pick you up during the long days of winter. Lovely composition and colour.

I actually have a painting of Marsaxlokk harbour on my wall. It has been there since 1995. Gorgeous place.

Lovely photos and colors. I like the idea of your Picture Perfect series. I started something similar that includes miscellaneous photos of places I love.

Again, beautiful photos :) I’ve never been to do a shoot of Marsaxlokk. I was there a few weeks ago though and it’s a beautiful place. I actally went for dinner in Marsascala nearby :) Good work with the colours on the boast – I’ve taken some photos of the ones in Spinola Bay near where I live, but i haven’t been able to get the colours to sort of pop out so well. I love these traditional boats, they’re amazing. One thing i wanted to show was all the little boast which people make themselves and use to get out from the coast to their fishing boat – there’s one in Spinola called the ‘Tiny Tanic’ :) it’s no bigger than 4 feet in length …
