Those of you who have been reading my blog for a while will surely remember me whining about how I couldn’t quite fall in love with Zurich and Switzerland, which caused me to ultimately decide that I needed to live somewhere else, and to pick Melbourne, Australia. And now that I am nearing my 1st year living and working in Australia, you might have wondered why I never spoke much about it here on my blog.
Well, it’s easy. I absolutely love it here. This is not yet the post were I go on and on about why this is the case, but it will come soon. In the meantime, I can say that there is enough stuff to do in Melbourne and around Victoria to last me a life time, and that life is good in the city which keeps being granted the status of most livable city in the world.
Today, with all this Melbourne-and-Victoria-love in my heart, I’m going to share a few of my favourite images from the last few months.

Hey,
So good to hear that you are loving it in Melbourne! It looks lovely. I really can’t wait to go

That graffiti area looks great. Glad to hear you’re enjoying!
Although I’m still amazed you didn’t love Switzerland, I am glad you found a place to call home! Looking forward to reading more about your adventures in Melbourne.
I am so glad you love Melbourne, Den Den. When I first left home at the age of 19 I left Townsville and lived in Melbourne for a year and it was fantastic. I have visited it several times in recent years and it still has the same appeal. I think it always will. Great photos – I’ve been to Healesville and sat in the bar across the river from the row boat training just last year!
Hi Jan,
Yes, I absolutely love it. I love having hundreds (is not thousands????) of cafes and restaurants to choose from and that you can find many even in the most residential of areas, I love the strange weather as it’s never hot or cold for a long time as I don’t like extremes for a long time, I love that you could spend a lifetime exploring neighbourhoods and you can still go back because new stuff keeps popping up.
I could go on, and on, and on!
I won a GoDo voucher and used part of the money on a Hidden Secrets Cafe Culture tour in the laneways of the inner city in October last year. It was very interesting and showed out of the way cafes and gave historical info as well. I probably would not have gone on it if I hadn’t won it, but if you have the spare cash ($95) it was very interesting (4 hours).
Hi Jan,
I am going on something similar in a few weeks
Melbourne looks lovely! The animal photos are amazing and I love the quirky art work – are those dog photographers?
Looks wonderful. I remember my plane landing there when I visited in 1980, but I didn’t get off. Next time!!
We skipped Melbourne on our whirlwind tour of Australia a few months ago. Now, I hope we have a chance to go have a look some time since you make it look so inviting.
It’s great to hear that you love Melbourne and now we can see a bit why. There’s much variety here – I’m sure you always have your camera with you. Looking forward to seeing more!
